Black Desert Online Responds To Player Protest With Migration To A New Service Provider
Likely in response to the massive player protests from the North American region that occurred several days ago in regards to server instability and constant lag issues, Black Desert Online will be switching service providers towards the end of April. Will this finally calm the masses and ease the tension building up within the Black Desert community? Only time will tell.
The North American servers will be taken down to initiate the migration process to the new Service Provider and the NA servers will also be utilizing Level 3 Communications as the primary carrier. Two other carriers will be working alongside them to support network stability. All of this comes with Database server upgrades for improved performance.
We expect this process to take approximately 10 hours. As the migration process is quite involved, there will be no patch applied on Wednesday April 25th. Instead, the game patch update will occur on Thursday April 26th.
What about the European servers?
The European Database servers will be upgraded a few weeks after the NA Serve upgrades.

Could you elaborate on why the players were protesting…?
We’ve been protesting on and off for over a year now about server lag. More specificly, desync (a big issue in group or 1v1 fights, when a played uses a skill with superarmor they cannot be knocked down, stunned, CC’d in general except grabs, but if you and the opponent are desyncing your/his SA(super armor) won’t be registered and you’ll be CC’d.), huge rubberbanding, server disconnects during sieges (every week, several guilds try to take on a guild defending their regional castles). Kakao the publisher has often said they fixed the issues, often making them worse or just straight up denying there we’re server issues while hundreds of players couldn’t reconnect to the game due to the number of players connected. One small example: https://clips.twitch.tv/ExcitedCrazyVanillaM4xHeh . There’s lots of other things we’d be protesting about if it wasn’t that the… Read more »
Same guy, I’m adding another example since it’s dedicated to the server migration, made couple hours ago. https://youtu.be/eDHQ2km-fs0
Thank you! I don’t follow BDO at all so I was curious about what was going on. That sounds really frustrating, I hope the migration helps!
That sucks. But ty for the info 🙂
Im really looking forward to this , BDO is recently making huge progress in terms of communication between developers and the community
Just a few more days until this update arrives!
Good news for those who play it, but I will not go back to it anyway. Game is not worth it after some point for PvE players.
