Earlier this year, Amazon Game Studios announced that their 17th Century MMORPG New World will no longer follow a free-for-all full loot PvP system. While PvP will still play an important part in the game, players will have to opt-in to take part.
Amazon Game Studios has released a new developer’s diary video for New World showcasing the game’s combat systems. The upcoming sandbox MMORPG will offer a dynamic action combat. There will be no classes. Instead, players will gain skill trees for each weapon that they choose to wield. The dev team wants the experience you get from wielding each weapon “to be so different, depending on the choice you make, that it almost feels like a class choice”.
To add to the hype of revealing the release date for the upcoming open world MMO New World, developer and publisher Amazon Game Studios has posted a new developer diary video. The video on YouTube talks about the development that went into New World and shows off concept art and in-game footage.
On December 12th, Amazon Game Studios announced the launch date of the upcoming 16th – 17th century fantasy MMORPG New World at The Game Awards 2019 event held in Los Angeles. The open world MMO is fully launching in May 2020. The final business model for the game has not been announced yet.
The multinational tech and e-commerce giant Amazon bought the rights to a multi-season Lord of the Rings TV adaptation back in November of 2017 and now it is taking the epic high fantasy novel series further than ever in the gaming market. Amazon Game Studios has announced that they are creating a new free-to-play MMO game based on the Lord of The Rings. This is not to be confused with the 2007 MMO The Lord of The Rings Online which is currently developed and published by Turbine. According to press information, the game will give “a new immersive experience for epic exploration of the vast world of Tolkien”.

New World is an upcoming MMORPG or ‘massively multiplayer online role-playing game’ by Amazon Game Studios set in pre-colonial and colonial period of the Americas. In this version of the world, the supernatural is real. The developers describe the game in a horror-like fashion. New World is emphasized to be open ended and sandbox in nature, specifically being able to choose to live on your own or join with other players to build villages, towns and forts.
