2019 is already looking much brighter than 2018 has been for the MMORPG genre on PC. Fans of Western MMOs will have a handful of indie MMOs that have been in development for a long time to finally play and beta test. Publishers like Nexon and Kakao Games have good lineups of promising Eastern MMOs coming too!

Here is a list of the most anticipated upcoming PC MMOs to play or test in the coming new year. This list will be updated with new information such as release dates and schedules when they are revealed.

We are listing these games based on their titles in ascending order.

Ascent: Infinite Realm

Ascent: Infinite Realm (A:IR) is a steam-punk themed open world MMORPG with sandbox elements.Players take to the skies with wings and rocket thrusters and travel to far away lands with dragons and airships. The game aims to provide the ultimate aerial combat experience with customizable flying mounts and airships used in many gameplay scenarios.

Ashes of Creation

Ashes of Creation is an upcoming MMORPG that offers a vast and ever-changing open world that is divided into zones and nodes. Nodes are points where civilization can develop into villages, cities, and metropolis through player activities around them. The game offers a housing system, politics, no fast travel, castle and node sieges, Player killing system, and a stand-alone battle-royale mode.

Astellia Online

Release Date: Expected North American beta in 2019

Astellia Online is centered around a monster summoning card system in which players collect and combine cards to call forth powerful companions into battle. Companions are vital to one’s gameplay as they provide what players would find as regular skills in other MMOs such as ones for tanking, buffing, attacking, and more. Nexon recently completed a Korean open beta for Astellia last month.

Conqueror’s Blade

Conqueror’s Blade is a warfare MMO that takes inspiration from ancient Eastern and Western civilizations and warfare. The game puts together action combat with tactical movements with a chosen class role and one’s army to command. You play with controllable medieval teams to command dozens of powerful and varying troops. The game offers some sandbox features like owning castles and land. Last November, My.com was announced as the publisher of Conqueror’s Blade for North America and the European regions.

Crowfall

Crowfall is an action-combat MMORPG that is best described as a”throne-war game” that is played across finite campaigns that can last for months. During the campaigns, the open world is up for grabs to all participants. Players battle over resourceful areas and bountiful nodes. The game offers player-created ever-lasting hubs called “The Eternal Kingdoms” to make use of the bounties gained from the long PvP campaigns.

Dual Universe

Release Date: Announced Alphas in the first half of 2019, Beta & Live Launch in 2020

Dual Universe is a crowd-funded first person civilization-building sandbox MMO that lets all of its players to be on the same universe at the same time without being separated into zones. Players have the freedom to build communities, become merchants, fight for resources, or explore the endless Sci-Fi universe. All backers were given temporary access to the alpha version of Dual Universe from December 20, 2018 to January 7, 2019.

Fractured

Release Date: Announced Aphas in 2019, Betas in 2020, Live launch in 2021

Fractured is played from an isometric point of view. The game will offer a mix of action combat and fully interactable environments to appeal to competitive and cooperative type of gameplay. Developer Dynamight Sutdios recently finished a successful Kickstarter campaign for Fractured in September 2018 with €111,662 in pledges (original goal of  €100,000).

KurtzPel: Bringer of Chaos

KurtzPel is an upcoming international action-combat MMO with an emphasis on Player vs Player fights. Many themes, assets and features are reminiscent of classic MMORPGs by the same developer, Grand Chase and Elsword. The game will feature small-scale PvE and PvP arenas. It has recently completed beta tests for both North American and European players.

Legends of Aria

Release Date: Announced live launch on Steam in 2019

Legends of Aria is deemed by some as the spiritual successor to the classic MMORPG Ultima Online. “moddable sandbox” MMORPG that gives the community ultimate power over the world they live in with player-generated content. Stories emerge naturally as players explore the game’s worlds. The game offers hardcore PvP battle-royale, permanent character death and classic story-based leveling progression.

Moonlight Blade

Moonlight Blade is a Wuxia themed MMORPG which means players embark in a world that is filled with flying Chinese dragons, ancient mystical beings, and powerful heroes. Choose your path by doing tasks like assassinations, spying, trading, and more. Glide through the beautiful seamless open-world.

New World

Release Date: More testing phases in 2019, rumored live launch in 2019

New World is a survival MMORPG by Amazon Game Studios set in the pre-colonial and colonial times of the Americas. While being historically inspired, there will also be Western-inspired supernatural beings in the world. The game will be integrated into Twitch, Amazon’s streaming platform. It is a sandbox game, so players will have lasting effects on their surroundings by building villages and towns.

Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen

Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen is a PVE-centric fantasy MMORPG that is said to be the spiritual successor to the classic MMORPG EverQuest. There will be PVP, but will be in separate servers. The main focus of the game is to challenge parties and guilds with PvE content that require cooperation.

The Lineage (Project TL)

Release Date: Expected to come out in South Korea in 2019

The Lineage, previously known as “Project TL” is an the latest venture into the popular Lineage franchise. Project TL is the remake of NCSoft’s unreleased game called Lineage Eternal which was meant to be the sequel to the original Lineage game. The game will have a single character system, unlike Lineage Eternal that offered several controllable characters at one time.

World of Warcraft: Classic

Release Date: Expected live launch in the summer of 2019

World of Warcraft: Classic will offer official legacy servers where players can experience a polished version of the original “vanilla” version of the popular MMORPG juggernaut World of Warcraft. Players will level up from 1 to 60 trough the world of Azeroth while forming companionship with guilds and parties, and meeting enemies from opposing factions. The game will use art, voice assets, and data from prior to any expansions (v1.12), but use a modern source code in order to ensure a more optimized and bug-free experience.
