The multinational tech and e-commerce giant Amazon bought the rights to a multi-season Lord of the Rings TV adaptation back in November of 2017 and now it is taking the epic high fantasy novel series further than ever in the gaming market. Amazon Game Studios has announced that they are creating a new free-to-play MMO game based on the Lord of The Rings. This is not to be confused with the 2007 MMO The Lord of The Rings Online which is currently developed and published by Turbine. According to press information, the game will give “a new immersive experience for epic exploration of the vast world of Tolkien”.

Lord of the Rings Online Legendary Server Will See Mines of Moria Expansion In March

Lord of the Rings Online is launching ‘Mines of Moria’, the first ever expansion for the Legendary server (progression server) since its launch in November of last year. The major content update is set to arrive in March and will lots of new content to the game.

Mines of Moria will come with an increase in the character level cap to level 60, 12 new areas with over 400 new quests, 13 varied instances, legendary items that you can design and create, and more. On top of this, two new classes will be available; the Warden and the Rune-keeper.

Lord of the Rings Online Drastically Change Six Classes & Tactical Relics, Players Are Generally Pleased

Lord of the Rings Online released a massive update (Update 22.2) on Wednesday, May 9th that comes with major changes to six classes in the game and extensive changes to the tactical relics system. The classes that recieved significant changes were the guardian, hunter, ministrel, warden, champion and lore-master. Tactical Relics which are items used for inserting additional bonuses to their users have been re-balanced to correct a mistake in their design.

Overall, the LOTRO community’s reception of the update is positive. It is apparent that many believe the update to be long overdue, but Standing Stone Games has a long way to go with re-balancing the rest of the game’s class roster.
