Indie developer Phoenix Labs has posted that Dauntless, their monster slayer multiplayer ARPG has reached the major milestone of 1,000,000+ registered players. The game launched its official free-to-play open beta testing phase today. Anyone can begin their behemoth slaying journey by downloading Dauntless from the official site. As is typical with open beta launches, players are reportedly experiencing loads of issues. In particular there are problems with the game’s matchmaking system, low FPS, crashing and areas failing to load.

The latest build made for open beta (0.4.0) brings “new Evergame modifiers, multiple Behemoth and weapon balance updates, quality of life improvements, and a plethora of bug fixes.” Read up on all of the changes that open beta players will experience on the 0.4.0 Patch Notes.

If only the game would be playable. Waited in the queue over 4 hours. After that couldn’t get passed the character creation. The game refused to continue.
One day later: another 4 hours queue, character creation screen for the 100th time because it doesn’t save it then crash at the first scene. Repeated the action, the crash repeated also.
Total play time: 0 minutes. The worst in the list of bad game launches.
