Nexon Cancels Peria Chronicles Release And Stops Development Of The Game

After years of staying under the radar, earlier in May of this year, a select group of players in Korea were finally chosen to conduct closed testing of Nexon’s sandbox MMORPG Peria Chronicles. Now, four months later, Korean news source Invenglobal reports that Nexon has announced that “after much discussion, the development of ‘Peria Chronicles’ is stopped.”

Several internal and external tests were conducted for Peria Chronicles and Nexon concluded that the current stage of the game could not satisfy players. The project is now cancelled.

Peria Chronicles Closed Beta Testing Begins In Korea – Nexon Accounts With Access Are Hard To Come By

A select group of beta testers in South Korea are now playing Nexon‘s long-awaited cel-shaded sandbox MMORPG Peria Chronicles! The beta began earlier today and will be running until May 12th. Testing is scheduled to run for 8 hours per day in the first two days and for 13 hours per day in the last two days. While the client download links (periafans.com) are now public, the current testing phase is a closed beta, so most eager fans must continue their wait to try the game.

Peria Chronicles Releases Two New Kirana Combat Gameplay Feature Videos Prior To Upcoming Closed Beta In Korea

Nexon has released two new Peria Chronicles feature trailers showcasing the combat style of the Kiranas Triven and Tominia. Kiranas are powerful beings that form contracts with humans to lend them their powers. They come in different shapes and sizes. In the game, some Kiranas are in conflict with humans and others fight alongside them. This is the cornerstone of the combat system in Peria Chronicles. Some Kiranas can be summoned, some can aid players as weapons and some can do both. Watch the two trailers below to see them in action.

The first Korean closed beta for Peria Chronicles is set to launch on May 9th. The beta will last for just four days until May 12th. Those with verified Korean Nexon accounts and Korean phone numbers can sign up for a chance to be chosen to participate in the testing the game. Sign ups began on April 18th and will end on May 2nd. Let’s hope that this testing phase will not be under NDA so that we can see actual gameplay footage of the current state of the game and the experience that Peria has to offer.

It sure has been some time since we last heard from Nexon about the world-building anime MMORPG Peria Chronicles. Just recently, Nexon has announced that the game is still on the horizon and that they are looking for testers to play it next month. From now (April 18th) to May 2nd, gamers with verified Korean Nexon accounts are able to register and apply for the first test phase. You will need a verified Korean phone number to apply for a chance to be chosen as a tester. Game testing will begin on May 9th and end on May 12th.

Pearl Abyss and NCSoft had their turn of revelations and now it’s Nexon’s turn to show us how their games performed in Q1 of 2018 and what they have in line for the months ahead. The Tokyo-based developer and publisher raised a record-breaking ¥90.5 billion in revenue for the quarter that was “primarily driven by strong performance of Dungeon & Fighter in China around the Lunar New Year season”. PC revenue (84%) outperformed mobile revenue (16%) by a mile. China is responsible for a whopping (67%) of their total revenue for this quarter and Korea behind it with (22%). North America and Europe/others are far behind with a whopping (4%) per recognized region.

Peria Chronicles Will Have Advanced AI For NPCs To Generate Content

What’s that? You want a release date? Nope, nothing more than “possibly this” and “probably that” for now. Last we heard of Peria Chronicles, we were supposed to get some important news in December of last year and so far that’s still a no-show. Worry not however, when a date is finally announced for this game, we will let you know right away and swiftly update our Alphas, Betas and Release Dates page.

Now on to the super smart NPCs. ThingSoft, the developers of Peria Chronicles will be applying an artificial intelligence system that is currently being developed by Nexon Korea to the game’s NPCs. This AI will allow the NPCs to automatically generate missions and other content for players.

Details as to how this will work were not mentioned, but I can guess that these smart NPCs may create based on surrounding player activity. This will be a sweet addition to the list of advanced sand-box features of Peria that include player-made dungeons and player-programmed mechanisms like elevators.
