World of Warcraft Classic Is Launching Worldwide On August 27th With CBT In May

World of Warcraft Classic has finally been given a release date; August 26th for NA and August 27th for most other places. World of Warcraft Classic is a polished replica of World of Warcraft’s patch 1.12 version from 2006 before the launch of the game’s first expansion, The Burning Crusade. Eager players can begin claiming their character names on August 13th.

The Classic version of World of Warcraft will run concurrently with the modern version. Those with World of Warcraft subscriptions will automatically have access to the Classic version on the day of the launch.

A small selection of World of Warcraft players will be chosen to participate in a closed beta testing on May 15th that will run until sometime in July. To sign up for the closed beta, opt-in through on the official WoW: Classic page.
