London-based indie game developer Bossa Studios has announced that the sandbox MMO Worlds Adrift will be closing down in July 2019. The game went into early access around a year ago and just never took off to fully launch. The MMO with a community-crafted world, open PvP, skyship combat and realistic physics apparently had “not captured the imagination of as many people as (the developers) needed to make it commercially viable“. Bossa cites that the ambitious nature of the project meant that “all of (their) work went into making the game work rather than making it the experience (they) wanted it to be“.

Worlds Adrift, the upcoming “community-crafted MMO” will launch into Early Access next week on May 17, 2018. In celebration, indie developer Bossa Studios has arranged an extravagant way of “launching” the game by having guests play the game 150 feet above the ground. They have created a life-size skyship that will be propelled above the Chelsea College of Arts in London that will be fully decked out with twenty game stations.

Worlds Adrift Will Have Steam Early Access On May 17

Worlds Adrift, the open-world sandbox “Community-Crafted MMO” by Bossa Studios will be available on Steam on May 17, 2018. This will be an early access version and access to the game will cost $25. The game offers a world where players can explore and design their surroundings and scour through floating islands by building skyships and competing for resources.

Much has changed since the game underwent a closed beta back in May of last year. The development team has worked on lots of major features like new climbing move-sets that do not kill players which apparently took three to four months to complete.
