Guadians of Ember Will Relaunch And Be Published By Gameforge On September 1st

Gameforge has acquired the publishing rights to Guardians of Ember. Guardians of Ember developer, Akio has stated that the game is planned to officially relaunch on September 1st in North America and Europe.

Originally published by Insel Games, Guardians of Ember is a traditional hack’n’slash MMORPG that is currently purchasable through the Guardians of Ember site and the Humble Bundle Store. In February of this year, all of Insel Games’ published games, including Guardians of Ember were removed from Steam due to review manipulations.

It is not yet known if Gameforge will relaunch the game on Steam. More information will be revealed by Gameforge. Below is an FAQ regarding the transfer to Gameforge.

FAQ about the game’s transfer to Gameforge

When will the transfer to Gameforge happen?
We are currently planning for the transfer to take place on September 1 2018 but we will confirm the date as the handover approaches including more details on how exactly the transfer will take place.

How will I be able to play after the transfer?
If you play GoE on Steam you will be able to continue playing just as you do now – with the same client and automatic login via your Steam Account.

What will happen to my existing characters and progress?
Your current game progress will be completely transferred. All characters and loot will be retained .

Will I lose any premium currency or cash items?
No. Purchased Frozen Ember and previously purchased items will also be transferred.

What about my purchased DLC’s?
You will retain your DLC privileges including those from different editions.

Will there be any downtime?
We will do our best to keep any downtime to a minimum but since there are many technical changes the servers may go offline for up to a few days during the handover.

Will there be any changes to the game?
As Gameforge is the new publisher we will leave it up to them to announce any changes they have planned but we think that they have identified any current issues with the game and will continue to improve GoE for current and new players alike.

So Runewaker is still working on the game?
Yes! The developers have always been working on new content – see the recent Cathedral Abyss Update as a prime example – and they will continue to do so.

Will Insel Games or it’s team still be involved?
No. As all publishing rights will be transferred to Gameforge none of the previous Product or Community Managers will no longer be involved from September 1 2018.

Will GoE return to Steam?
Again, this is Gameforge’s decision in their role as new publisher, however, there are plans for the game to relaunch on Steam. Please note that you can still play GoE outside of the Steam ecosystem.
